BRITISH PRESS DENOUNCE DRASTIC
LEAGUE MEASURES
AGAINST JAPAN REGARDING SINO- JAPANESE DISPUTE
CHINA REMINDED SHE MUST CREATE CAPABLE ADMINISTRATION
[TROUGH REUTER'S AGENCY.]
LONDON, Jan. 10. DEMANDS by sentimentalists for drastic League action against Japan are vigorously denounced in general by the morning newspapers.
The Daily Mail Esserts that the greatest possible mistake is to prejudge the issue and to threaten a friendly power, and pointed out that no European Power is deeply interested in the control of Manchuria, whereas its control is vital to the safety of Japan,
The League's duty is to remind the Chinese that the first necessity to secure peace in the Far East is to create an administration capable of enforcing order and fulfiling the obliga tions of a civilised state.
Referring to the Archbishop of York's letter, the Morning Post asserts that the British nation, which has no quarrel with Japan would never consent to be led into hostile action against eld friends at the bidding of pugnacious pacifists.
The Daily Express says it would be atter madness for Britain to interfere in any effort to pacity the Far East. We should beware of sentimentalists, who seek to advance pacifist ideals at the price of involving, Britata in a foreign quarrel which is not our concern.
