LONDON Dec. 19. „ The first Diesel-electric shunting locomotives built in this country for use on a standard gunge rail- way track were demonstrated at Rugby on Dec. 18, Three of these icomotives have been constructeri hy the British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd. for use at the Daganham yards of the Ford Motor Co. The low running cast is the most strik ing feature, which, it is claimed, ie
o more than half that of a steam shunting, locomotive. The 150 h.p. oil engine can haul a load of 450 tans at six miles an hour, whilst with a 250 tons load ten miles on hour can be attained. The angipe starts at the touch of a button. With the locomotive standing and the anging dead it started and got under way at this demonstration in a few seconds.

Madame Chiffon, the well-known at the Summary Court yesterday, | FATAL ACCIDENT IN PRINCE- local dressmaker, was sued by Leung Sing Cheung, a tailor formerly em ployed by her, for $120 being wages due to him and his two sons who were also employed by her.
In putting forward his claim, the plaintiff stated that he was wrong. fully dismissed by Madame Chiffon on December 24, without notice. He and his two sons first joined the firm on December 9 at a combined salary of $120. On the 15th of the ane month he was paid 24, being salary for the six days. Before he started work he entered into an agreement with the defendant that in the event of disagreement, one month's notice was to be given on from 8.30 am, to 12 noon, and 1 either side. His hours of duty were
