Yesterday was Congregation Day at the University and the Great Hall was packed to capacity to sas His Excellency the Governor, Sir William Feel, Chancellor of the University, confer - degrees on the successful medical, engineering and art graduates,
In the course of his address to the gathering, the Vice-Chan- cellor, Sir William Hornall, referred to the enterprise of British engineering firms during the year as a result of which three en- gineering graduates went as student apprentices to British firms. He also took the opportunity to thank Messrs. Butterfold and Swire, who, acting in co-operation with Messrs. Alfred Holt and Company provided each of these students with free passages to England:
Sir William Hornell also referred to a valuable acquisition of books on China for the University's Library. It was Becuri
a cost of $25,000, and the collection includes some very rare books indeed.
