PEARCE SCORES HALF CENTURY FOR H.K.C.C. AND DUCKITT TAKES 4 FOR 20

· NAVY, DRAWS WITH CIVIL SERVICE AT KING'S PARK

Two matches in the First Division of the Cricket League were decided cm Baturday. In the game at Happy Valley, the H.K.C.C. took full points from the Orsigergower 0.0., a feature of their match being the bright batting of T. A. Pearce who scored 58 out of a total of 183 for 7 wickets, The Craigengower altor being 2 down for 72 runs allowed themselves to be all out for 105, Duckitt doing all the damage by taking four wickets for 20.

The Navy and the Civil Service drew at King's Park. The Navy batted first and scored' 169 for four wickets, Commander Williams scoring 50 before being bowled by Sayer. Commander Shaw scored 43 and Mid. Farnhill registered 38,"

The Civil Service, thanks to 32 by Hawkins, and 24 not out by Baker, replied with 132 for 7 wickets.

In the Second Division, the Craigongower, visiting the H.A.0.0. forced a draw, while at Happy Valley, the Civil Service seconds were badly trounced by the Navy thanks to Rowley's bowling which accounted for five wickets for 11 mans.

Several friendlies were played, an interesting match being that by the University ground, where the home' team accounted for the Indian R.C., league champions, by ten wickets!

SATURDAY'S MATCHES

R.A.S.O, DEFEAT GERMAN CLUB.

In Mamak. Tournament match Royal Army Sarvice Corps defeated the German Club by 8 goals to 2. The score at half time, was two goals each. Tipple and Senior ahared the goal honours for the military team, while Lange and Mueller natted for the German Club.

ST. ANDREW'S LADIES v, RECREIO LADIES.

Playing on the Marius ground at Kowloon the Recreio ladies did very well to draw with the St. An drew's Ladies in a scoreless game, in the Cher Clark Tournament.

Mina C. Osmund and M. Basto were mainly responsible for holding the St. Andrew's forwards. This re sula adds even inore interest to the Caer Clark competitions as the St. Andrew's ladies were thought to be the better team.

The University knocked up the required runs with all their wickets intact and went on to score 159 for 4. Anderson (48 retired), Rodrigues (37 retired) and F. R. In a very fast game on the Marina ground, Kowloon, yester- day the Incognitos defeated the R.C. Signals by two goals to nil. The goals were scored early in the fiest half by J. M. Pinton and C. C. Francis W. Reed was outstand- ing for the Incognitos. This is their ninth Mamak hockey match,

and so far they have won every, game they have played.

The Incognitoe will meet the I.A.O.C., on Saturday and H.M.S. Medway un Sunday.

Both Chinese teams in the First Division, the South China, and the Chinese Athletic were successful in their matches yesterday, the former basting the Gunners by one goal to nil, while the latter sprang surprise on the Borderers, running out winners by firs "goals to one.

The former match, which was played before a large crowd at Sookunpoo, had an important bearing on the Championship as the Gunners are at present leaders of the League with South China only one point behind but with two matches on hand. Apparently realising this importance, the Chinese folded their strongest eleven so far this season, while the Gunners put out their urnál eloven.

At Happy Valley, before a comparatively small orfed, the Chi- ness Athletics who have not been taring so well this year surprised · the Borderers by five goals to one.
