Mr. S. F. Chien was in the chair.
In the course of his address the speaker gave an interesting account of how things are changing in Russia and also issued i warning as to the tension between Poland and Germany,

Mr. Petrie said: America during the past year has been dominated by economie problems. Americh did not expect the crisis. America suffered anex- pectedly by it. J Problem of Inflation. Then there is the serious problem of inflation they will not admit. They say it is a shortage of goods. There is undoubtedly a shortage of goods, but if you go to the Bank with ar American gold dollar, you get less than two roubles for it. If you go out in the street anyone will give you thirty or forty for your American dollar. That means there is an inflation in Russia,

Glancing at the world now, we can deduce une or two things. We see creeping over industry a paralysis all over the world. The existence of the League appears as u raft and only a raft on a very rough sea.
So the average citizen has a job on his hands today, it is his duty, I believe, to retain his courage and his ideals and to carry on. The way out is not clear, but the future is not hopeless..
