Girl's Evidence.

Chan Li Ching testified that sho was the concubine of the defendant and had two children, a girl aged and a boy aged 3. When she married the defendant he was em ployed in the Public Works Depart ment and remained there for about two years after their marriage. He then left the FW.D. and shortly afterwards witness gave birth to a daughter.
Supported Family.
For the past six yours, with the exception of a period of six months in 1931, when the defendant worked for the Dollar Steamship Company, witness hdd supported the family by teaching at schools. In times of dire necessity she had pawned several of her belongings, and had sometimes received assistance from her parents,

Husband's Accusation.
A few days after leaving Morriton Hill Road, she again went to the 5.0.A. and petitioned for a sepira- tion from her husband because he had now acquired the habit of hitting her on any pretext: When her separation order was approved af by the S.C.A. on October 29, and she was given the custody of the children, her husband accused her of having a lover. After her separa- tion she went with her children to the home of her mother.
Witness then, told of her visit to the S.C.A., when she reported how her husband had thrown the child- Defendant ren. into the harbour. exclaimed that the story was an en- tire concoction.
Mr. Landau, proprietor of the cafe, said he took Chan Li Ching on as cashier in his cafe, and short- ly afterwards met the defendant at her house, where the defendant told hit she was his nicce. Witness then gave evidence in corroboration of the girl's story.
The hearing of the case was 'ad- journed to Monday ht 11.30 a.m.
