DON EXPECTED TO PUT UP STIFF OPPOSITION OVER MILE AND QUARTER

THE GIRAFFE AND WOTIN FOR AUSTRALIAN EVENT: POLAR STAR NOT FANCIED

(BY MORNING DEW *}

Unless Polar Star got a flying start, he is not likely to make a big bid for the Australian race over alx furlongs to-day where ho will be carrying 170 pounds. The Giraffe with a handicap of Ava pounds is strongly fancied and ought to win, Mr. Harriman on Wola is likely to put up a stiff opposition as he will be riding at the lowest posible weight he can make. The distance suits both The Giraffe and Wotin and a very fast race should be seen.

The Grimas' Cup over a mile and a quarter is another good race to watch and Lunar Biar will find himself favourite this after- ' noon against Don and possibly one or two others. Lainar Blar should win from Don, although the latter is very it and is sure to put up a very good race.

This seems a bit too much to concede, the more so since the pony does not appear to be on his top form.

I have picked Cy-pres to win, simply because of the excellent showing this pony has made in his last two public outings. He is not too heavily penalised at 155 pounds and if the pace is a fast one, he, Aberdeen seems to have every chance of win Airdrie

Bag and Baggage at 135 is a very uncertain quantity.. Ho might put an excellent gallop or he might fail altogether. The pony has done 1.50.1 för a mile with 101 pounds ing.
