Mr. Wilson said that the delegates at the Conference were very keen to obtain news of the Far East and ono and all were anxious that the present trouble in Maneburia-which was against the spirit of Rotary-should be speedily settled.

Several cases were heard before Mr. Schofield yesterday in which private car owners were summoned for causing obstructions by parking their cars on the ricksha and chair stands between the Star Ferry wharl and Blake Pier.
During the Convention we had many apeeches that were of great interest, and I endeavoured to hear. as many of the speeches as I could, Those that made a greatest impres- sion on mo were the speeches of President Pascal); Mrs. Jipr David- son; Chief Justice James Alexander.

President Paseal reviewed his trip around-the-world, and during the course of his speech mentioned his regret at being unable to come up from Singapore to Hong Kong, China and Japan. During a per- gonal interview with him later. I was asked to convey his good wishes to you all and his regrets at being unable to visit with us here.
Our old friend, Jim Davidson, was ill at his Home in Vancouver, and Mrs. Davidson delivered a speech for him, which was very well received. I might say that Mr. Davidson gave us all in the Orient a pretty good reputation, and Jim is waiting to hear further good reports on our conduct.
Outstanding Speech. Although Cannon Elliott's speech on "Rotarians', task in the present crisis" was thought by many to be the outstanding speech of the Con- vention, in my personal opinion the

As to the Convention itself, it follows:-I want to say that I opened on June 22 at Seattle. I was consider it an honour and a plea the first delegato from Overseas to suro to have been able to represent register, and I had hardly com. our Club at an International or pleted registration before I was world-wide Convention of Rotary surrounded by delegates, from the Clubs. Prior to my departure from United States and Canada, as well Hong Kong, Rotary Internationals other parts of the world, asking had been worrying our Secretary all sorts of questions about our and our President over the needs) country out here, and a great num- sity for having a delegate at the Convention, and I am sure the Secretary heaved a sigh of relief when I informned him that my health was so bad that it would be necessary for
me to travel to, Seattle, and that I would he Seattle during the Convention.
When I arrived at Seattle there was a number of newspaper report era endeavouring to find something of internat on the China-Japan situation. When they asked me for nows, I told them I came from a neutral port and could give them nothing that might be of interest on that subject. When they asked me why I had come to the States I informed them that, among other things I was representing Hong decorated, and the Ice Arena, I received an invitation from Pre- One morning during the Convention

I think the majority of the people who introduced themselves to me on that day had never travelled more than a few hundred huiles from their homes, and they merely wanted to shake hands, get ac- quainted and be able to return to their hometowns and tell their friends they had met a man who had travelled thousands of miles, and who had promised to send them a postord, together with a few cancelled stamps.
The Auditorium, where the Con- vention was held, was beautifully

speech delivered by James Alexan- der MacDonald, 'Chief Justice of British Columbia on "The Pacifio Bowl," was the most illuminating and interesting speech that I heard, I must say that Justice MacDonald has made a careful study of the situation and knew what he was talking about.
