Chiengo, July 24.-A straggle be--World. ween the Federal Government and the Chicago Board of Trade is fore- shadowed as the result of instruc tions from Washington ordering the suspension of the Board for a period of 60 days.

The charge levelled against tlie Board by the Federal Government is that it violated the law by ra fusing clearing house privileges, to cho Farmors National Grain Cor poration.

The Board has decided to defy the urder of suspension and to remain open. It says that if it were to cluse, the wheat market will be thrown into chaos, as it will be im possible for Minneapolis, Winnipeg nd other cities to handle the volume of business passing through Chicago.

The Board further declared that) it intends to appeal to the highest | courts for relief. It asserts that it will not compromise with a com- mittee of Hoover job-holilere.".

Marseilles, July 24.--Tho report of the Commission of Inquiry which has been investigating the loss of the Messageries Maritimes linez Georges Philippar off the Somali const in May is inconclusive.

The Commission declares that there were three possible causes of the fire which led to the burning and sinking of the vessel, namely: a short circuit, accidental fire, ar foul play.

It says, however, that the ert dence gave no more support to any of those theories than to others.
