DAY MAY 14,
THE WATER SHORTAGE CREATOR OF OLD MURDER TRIAL.
APPEAL FROM THE D.P.W.
SEE THAT YOUR SERVANTS DON'T WASTE!
The Kan. Director of Public Works has issued the following appeal
The Waterworks Engineer reports that some dimenity was ex- perienced yesterday (Thursday), in providing a supply to houses and groups, of houses and flats, bordering op Bowen Road, Kennedy Boad, Condutt Road, Robinson Road, Lyttleton Road, Seymour Road, Caino Road and Bonham Road,
Each householder throughout the whole Oplony, and now parti- cularly in the above mentioned areas, is again sarnestly requested to assist not merely by instrusting servants and others to draw only the bare minimum required for domestic use, but by personally seeing that instructions are strictly carried out. Excessive nud wasteful consumption results in failure to keep the mains fully chaig- ed and, in the above mentioned areas, failure to keep the balanc- ing tanks which supply these areas charged with water.
HOW THE WORKING CLASS SUFFERS.
As was the case during the water shortage in" 1999, the present famine "is causing a great deal
of trouble and inconvenience, more particularly where people of the
poorer classes are concerned,
The section of the community who are lucky enough to have the main conusated to their houses do not know the hardship this shortage is causing to less fortunates people but oas of our repórters who took a tour round the various districts yesterday morning writes as follows:-
