IN THREE DAYS"

LONDON, April 9,

The Four Power Conference broke up 11.30 a.m., being unable to agree to a plan for the economic rehabilitation of Danubian countries.

1

A final communiqué stresses that the Powers have, agreed that prompt concerted action by Danubian States and other countries is required for placing Danubian States on a sound basis, -as-a first step towards economic restoration in Europe.

As a result of the deliberations of the Conference, a number of economic points have smerged demanding further examination. As important League meetings at Geneva, next week, would prevent, in any case, a continuance of the Conference, all four Powers will continue to exchange views on, the points reserved « and the best mode for further progress.

It is clear that the bright hopes for the speedy salvation of Danubia are frustrated, but out of a mountain effort a mouse achievement may yet result from diplomatic exchanges and League economic discussions.

The British delegation made most strenuous efforts to com cillate the divergent viewpoints.

Relative to the failure, It is generally admitted that Signor Grandi declared at its finish: We all have done our bost-;" while Von Buelow, the chlet German delegate, said: I feared from the first it was too complicated a problem for solution in three days.
