"They're worth a nice big kiss!"

It's a big favour for one child to share those trensurad “Ovaltine” Rusks with anotliar. A nice big kiss is a small reward for rusks ap delightfully crisp and so deltolously crunchy,

A child's lustinct is for foods which require thorough mastication. When only soft foods are given, this " instinct is soon lost The result is seen in irregular and crowded teeth, ill-developed jaws and ugly mouths. Ovalting" Rusks should be included in the daily dietary of every child, bienuse they give the exercise to ensure sound healthy tooth, and the proper development of the jaws. Etficient mastication has also a vital bearing upon health.

It is the addition of " Ovaltine" which gives these rusks. thoir fascinating flavour.renders them easy of digestion, and gives them a much higher nutritive value than ordinary rusks.

MAKE SURE OF YOUR

MAKE-UP

Make-up, to suit the new, sophis- tested fashions, must be bolter done, and one might taka #little and good for a motto,

Make-up, is influenced by many things: by colouring, by type, by teeth, and in the beauty parlours no two faces are treated the anzo,

I do not believe; however, in- using the same brand of powder for ever. The complexion likes. change and reacts to the new pow. der as it does not

do to the old. T

Although I like a powder that i matches the skin exactly-and the beat way to test the colour is to apply it first to one of the little hollows in your neck-1 believe in choosing a powder that is lighter than the skin in the evening. Then if you get hot dancing and the pow der and cream go puddingy it will not show nearly so much as it would if the powder had been darker.

Another tip. A darkish make-up has the affect of making the teeth look very white, particularly if s rather pale lipstick is used.

Eyeshadow must be applied with extreme care, blending it into the skin, always with an outward move ment. If you get the darkening too near the nose it gives the eyes an effect of being set too close to gether.

FASHION TURNS HER BACK

London dress Houses this year aro showing a determination-be--face economic realities. Not only are prices lower than for yours, but fow of the models have been mark- ed by that extravagance of design. which dates a gown or suit after being word but a few times. In- stead, lines are simple in effect though actually demanding highly skilled outting and needlework-and colours are soft and mellow instead, of being vivid and conspicuous.

This does not mean that prim- mings are dispensed with. Actually they are more in evidence than foo many years. But they harmonise so well with the gown they adorn that a woman may wear her frock scores of times and still arouse ud- "miration instund of overhearing the comment; "Yes, very smart but I'm so tired of seeing it.""

Designers have concentrated very much this year on the backs of both day and

evening gowns.

A Reversed Neck-Line.

At Talmot's collection an after noon dress of brown romaine' had an oval neckline in front trimmed with flat bands of tomato red and brown silk These bands, however, dipped in V-shaps at the back and tied in how about two inches. below the nape of the neck. The. dress thus had a low neck at the back and a normally high one in front--a modified version of the evening décolleté that has been so fashionable for some time,

This, drces was worn with a brown and beige tweed coat cut with shoulder capes like military opau leches and trimmed with a high. collar of brown broadtail.

This affect was repeated on an other day dress where two little revers of contrasting material em phasised the hackete-front nation.

Slight Bustle Elects. ****

A ruby red ring volvet evening. dress, out on moulded princess lines, had the skirt draped to the centre, back to give a slight bustle effect. The same effect was achiev ed on another gown, of shaded velvet, by a sort bow of self mate- rial fastened to the waistline by a large pearl buckle. This dress gradually changed in colour from deep grey at the top to a pale flesh- pink at the hem-line.

A novel belt worn with black wool fabric frock, shown by Paul Caret, was made of shavings of steel threaded on silk. Three cut. steel buttons trimmed the bodice..

A blus lace evening frock with gracefully draped skirt had two short frills of very slightly stiffened lace placed at the back to hint at a bustie

Another evening gown specially designed for the debutante had a plain though alightly flared front and two frills running in a deep oval at the back of the skirt, from waist of hemline. It was materialia ad in peach-bloom taffeta,

An afternoon dress which evoked all-round admiration was materialis- ed black romaine trimmed with ermine. A narrow band of this beautiful fur outlined the oval neck. The pouched sleeves were, slushed just above the wrist and edged with ermine tails to arranged that they gave a scalloped line." Ermine tails alas trimmed the back of the black - felt hat. Alittle capa waa wora with this dress, slipped over the head and pulled into position so that the ermine on the dress edged the neckline.

ind

Very charming was a two-piece in brown crêpe himer trimmed with baby leopard skin. This fur made the high collar of the long cont and a hat, narrow band trimmed the oval zeck of the dream The waist) belt, too, was made partly of the fur and partly of fabric and fasten- ed by a beige lizard skin bucklo

The brown felt hat, worn with it had amusing bows of felt placed right over the crown.

Shoulder-strap.

décolletés were shown on many of the evening. models and inade a pleaning change: from the draped and over styles **Among the many lovely new materials used by this house was chonky, a matt-surfaced heavy white) ill with a texture like the petals of atum lilies. It made a graceful evening gown with the skirt slightly pouched at the knees after the Grecian style, Rosetter of selle material sutlined the hem and were. Axed in a long strip down the left side. The accompanying cape was atitobed to the waist at the lower end, and could be dropped to form part of the skirt draperies

Diamond-shaped tabs of black and white patent leather, machine stitched silver trimmed the bodies of a black wool frock showne by Roville The sleeves were tight to the elbow and then pouched at the wrist like Bumánian, passant blouses. A patent leather quill w perched in juanty fashion at the back of the black felt hat,
