HOW THE ARMISTICE WAS SIGNED
A NEW ACCOUNT BY EYEWITNESS OF THE HISTORIC
SCENE IN COMPIEGNE FOREST.
BRITISH ADMIRAL'S IMPRESSIONS PUBLISHED FOR THE
FIRST TIME.
The remarkable and historia document published below was written by Admiral Hope, one of the British signatories of the Armistice. The Admitidescription of the negotiations was circulated amongst the War- Staff at the Admiralty and we are indebted to a member of that group of naval experts, Mr. G. E. Gilbert, for permission to reproduce Admiral Hope's account.
The document which appears in print to-day, for the first time, gives a wonderful picture. of the scenes, and reflects in every line the harsh war spirit, which must be magnificent but is the enemy of the human race,
