TROUBLE OVER A CHESTNUT.

An altercation over a chestat the age of which seemed to be a very debatable matter, led to the appearance in the Central Magis- tracy yesterday afternoon before Mr. Williams of two Chinese motor drivers and two huwkers,

The motor drivers were charged: with assaulting the hawkers at 3 eleven o'clock on Tuesday morning. at Les Yuen Street East, in the Central district.

According to the case for the pro- secution, one of the drivers ap-3 proached, one of the hawkers and bought some chestnuts, one of which, alleged the driver, was bad. The chestnut was returned to the hawker, who insisted that it was perfoully sound. The driver differ- aed and impressed his point with a blow on the chest. The second hawker then ran up to the assist ance of the first, but was engaged in combat by the second driver, who removed his clog and used it as a club..
