Although the interport trial matab commamied much attens tion on Saturday, no less than eight other games were played, thros of thean (all second dívisión) being leagué engagements.
Civil Servine Cricket Club started their league programme with a defeat at the hands of the R.E. and S., and the University wero beaten at home by the South Wales Borderers. Club de Recreio are to be congratulated on their win against the Police, as they had to fight against time to get the runs required for victory.
Nothing very starthing happened in the friendly gamer although most of them were very evenly contested.

University Lose to Borderers,
Playing at home, the University loat to the South Wales Borderers, the now entry to the league, by 74 runs.
A fine knock by Crewe Read (65) enabled the soldiers to put up the respectable total of 184 for when they took first innings. He was ably supported by Capt. Wales who made 30.
The undergraduates started nono too well, and but for a good innings for 34 by H. Normanbhoy, they would have been in a sorry plight.. As it was, their Inst wicket fell when the score, board showed 130

Bright cricket was the order of the day when the Police enter tained Club de Recreio in their league fixture and were beaten by 4 wickets:
Taking first use of the wicket, the Happy Valley men started off in fine style, their first three bálsmen topping the thirty mark, and with Loughlin coming in later to score 47 not out, they declared at 370 for 5.3 Not to be deterred, however, the Recreio men went for the rune in. right royal manner when it came to their turn to bat, and a fine forcing innings by A. P. Guterres (60 not out) gave them a victory almost on time, Alves helped with 30 while "H: M. Xavier with 28.
