THE EUROPA DAMAGES PROPELLER,

MISHAP TO WORLD'S. FASTEST LINER,

London, Sept. 14.The hundreds of passengery in the 50,00-ton

P North Gorman linor Europa have. had the experience of drifting in the Atlantin 300 miles from land.

Early in the morning, when the liner was reversing her turbines to drop the pilot off the Ambrosu Lightship alog or piece of drift wood became entangled in the for ward starboard propeller, putting the engine out of action.

The ship resumed her voyage në a reduced speed of 21 knots until five o'clock oil' Sunday afternoon, when the captain ordered the ven nel to be hove to in order that the engineers might remove the obstruc tion.

Preparations were also made to launch boats for the same purpose, and the operation was witnessed by the passengers who lined the rails. It was not found necessary, however, to lower the boats, and after an hour and a half the Europa resumed her voyage.
