THE RACING.
A field of nine started in the first race and Morning Star and The Plover were about equal in dopand. The former was ridden by Pan and the latter by Mr. G. da Roza. Both jockeys were content to run with the field over the Arst six furlongs, but coming" into the straight, Morning Star drew out, to be joined immediately by The Plover on the rails and Imperial Hall on the outside, The three of them raced up the straight, but Imperial Hall was "a bentes pony a hundred yards from home The other two candidates provided a neck-and-neck struggle all the way, first one then, the other show- ing its nose in front. Mr. de Rox, however, managed to get his mount a short head to the good when the two flashed past the winning pott,
