A Forecast
Some weeks ago I recollect see ing in a contemporary a statement that this year's Interport team would be one of young men. I am not actually sure that I know what the writer meant, if indeed he meant anything. I wish I could think wo had so many young play ers coming along that they were keeping our tried veterans going all out to retain their places. But in point of fact we have not. We have alot of promising young players, but the pity of it is. that just when they are ripe for coaching they leave school, or the Varsity--and play for teams where they do not get conched. In fact there is very little coaching going about in the Colony. Lots of them do very well if the opposition is weak, and would do very well indeed against any thing if they could get adequate teaching. And that is our problem. I don't imagine we shall see more than one or two new names in the team, though this does not mean very much as we must have a couple of dozen Interporters playing still in the Colony. But unless I am much mistaken. we shall have no real now comers. There is a very general fallacy among those who follow the game keenly without real expert knowledge, and among such
