An enormous flywheel, weighing 25 tons, attached to one of the steam dynamos, burst, sending. heavy pieces of metal flying in all' directions. One of the pieces was thrown 500 yards, pierced the wall of a house and seriously injured its decupant, M. Marcel Arnac, and slightly injured his wife and child.

Though these were the only per sonal injuries. great damage was done at the works. The roof of the Songino honse was pierced in five places and looked as though it had been bombarded. A thick wall had a six-inch hole driven through it.

None of the broken pieces so far found were much less than a ton in weight.
