Mr. Justice Garlick, the Sénior Judge of the Allpore mburb of Calcutta, was shot dead in Court. His assallant was shot dead by the police,
Mr. Justico Garlick's assailant, after firing fruitlessly from the far end of the Court, dashed into the witacsi-box, from where he fired the shot which entered the Judge's brain. The assailant is believed to be Bimal Dasgupta, wanted by the police in connection with the mur der of Mr. Peddie, the District Magistrate of Midnapore.
