Dublin, June 6.--The racing battle of the giants, the 300 mile Irish Grand Prix at Phoenix: Park, Dublin, has been won by Capt. Sir Henry Birkin, driving 'an Alfa Romeo car, in 3 hr. 21 min 1 sec., an average speed of The famous 88.8 miles an hour.

The hero of the race was Cam- *pari, who, suffering agony from an eye which was badly eut owing to the breaking of his goggles, con tinued to drive at full speed, lutching the wheel with one hand and holding his. injured eye with the other until, after 3 miles, he reached a first aid station. He was then holding second place. Campari then handed over, the car to his spare driver, Ramponi, while his ye was trassed. After this, he again resumed the wheel and put up a terrific struggle against Birkin in a wonderful attempt to win back what he Bad lost owing to his accident.^.
