LOTTERY BRIDE."
Arthur Hammerstein, famous Broadway producer, has crowded half the globe onto a ten nere lot in Hollywood for his first produc- tion Lottery Bride" which open- ed yesterday at the Queen's Theatre,
The picture has a powerful love motif, with a spectacular, thrilling background, that lends itself to music of a high order.
The story is the romance of s lottery bride, won on the spin of n wheel by A, miner, who was the brother of the man, she loved, and with whom she had had a tragic misunderstanding. It is dramatic, filled with emotions of the heart, with a terrifio obstacle to the love- reunion of a young man and a girl.
The music was composed by Rudolf Triml, internationally known light opera composer, who has supplied the scores for many Hammerstein stage successes, such D-8 "Ross Mario," "Katinka," "Firefly," and "High Jinks" Jeanette Macdonald, who heads the cast, needs no introduction to local audiences and in "Lottery Brido," does full justice to Friml's music, as also do John Garrick and Robort Chisholm, two British singers.
Altogether a sparking and colour- ful production" and well worth see- ing and hearing,

Because of the velvet folds in her lavish Parisian ensemble, Miss

In addition to this she is always getting the bad breaks in the play. Although innocent of blame, she is charged with being a burglar; oven finally with complicity in murder, but in the end. she attains freedom, Miss Carroll, ju this picture, is
