MAJOR - DOWBIGGIN GETS O.B.E:
TWO CERTIFICATES OF HONOUR.
Although the number of Hong Kong residents figuring in this year's Birthday, Honours are fow in number, they are in every in stance fully deserved. Major H B. L. Dowbiggin, is awarded the O.BE. (Military Division) while Mr RJ. Everest of the Publie Works Department receives the M.B.E. (Military Division). Both these decorations, are undoubtedly awarded for services in the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Comps Öther fortunate recipients are Mesars. Wong Kwong Tin and LI Po Kwai both of whom receive the Certifiento of Honour.
Major Dowbiggin, O.B.E. Major Dowbiggin is one of the most popular officers of the Defence Corpa. He has always takon the keenest interest in the welfare of the men, both in general' organisa tion and in sporting activities.

The King's Birthday celebrations yesterday took much the same form as in past years, the principal feature of the day being the im pressive and colourful march past the Cenotaph at 10 o'clock in the morning.
Long before that hour large crowds thronged the roads in and around Statue Aquare," and at some. place, particularly in Connaught Rond, the crowd was ten-deep.
Promptly at 10. o'clock, His Ex collency the Governor arrived. The Band of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders immediately struck up the National Anthem, after which His Excellency inspected the Guard of Honour formed by the Royal Navy and the South Wales Bor derers.
