CONSIDERABLE IMPROVEMENT ON
LAST YEAR'S FIGURE.
DECREASE ON MARCH IMPORTS AND EXPORTS.
According to the Trade Returns for the month of April, which have now been issued by the Statistical Branch of the Importe and Exports Department, the total value of merchandise import- ed into Hong Kong during that period amounted to $04,701,597 and exports to $46,030,734. •
Importe recorded a decrease of 87,071,551 as compared with the month of March, and an increase of €20,296,381 as compared with April of last year; while exporta were less than the March figure, by 88,403,610, and $10,500,015.more then this total for April laet

The excess of imports over exporta amounted to $18,070,855, as compared with a monthly average excess of imports of $12,194,360 during the year ended 31 March, 1931,
