HABOLD LLOYD IN FEET FIRST"

nera

Barold Lloyd's first talkie, "Fest First," has some delightfully amus ing moments, and a real thrill at the end. Harold trying to be "Tan A successful salesman in

successful bootsture, his debut nt a swoll club where he meets the great and irascible Mr. Tanner himself, and his pretty sceretary; and again Harold a stowaway, alternately heb-nobbing with the first-class pässengern and dodging inquisitive ship's officers. are all incidents full of amusement. But when Harold gets taken ashore in a mail ling and finally struggles up and down the side of a sky. scraper, the excitement is almost ico tense. One knows he is safe) but to see Harold struggling with 4 rickety platform and a rotten blind, with New York's traffic hun- dreds of feet below, kreps the heart in the moully,

But Harold, full of resource, and with the coolest cheek imaginable, wins through somehow.

Now and then the action drags. and there is too much dialogue. The story is a little thin, but it is the succession of incidents, alter untely absurd,, tense and once or twice alinost pathetic, that hold the attention.

The supporting east is entirely adequate, the pretty secretary is quite charmingly played by Barbara Kent, and Robert MrWade gets real humour, into the part of the shoe magnate.
