"You saw the aetused in the wit- ness-box," he said. "Have you ever come across anybody more ob- viously sane? It would be a traves.
of justice to say that this man was not responsible in law for what he was doing."
Dealing with the question of manslaughter, Mr. Justive Humph- rays said: "The punishment for adultery is not death, but the divorce court, although, maybe, that is becoming less and less punishment.
"This prisoner has rather a bo. autiful inture in some ways be cause he takes a very high view of the sanctity of the marriago oath. He told you be thought a married woman was false to her marriage vow if she did no more than kiss another man, herauso, he said, the mind had committed adultery. She was no longer his i her heart was elsewhere. That is a view of the marriage TOW which I should not be disposed to criticise."

"BILLY THE KID."
The largest western town ever built for a notion picture was con- structed for King Vidor's Billy the Kid," M-G-M's stirring tale of real wild west history, which will open on Sunday at the Queen's Theatre.
This extensive construction, was necessary to duplicate the town of Lincoln, New Mexico, seat of the famous Lincoln Country War," in which Billy the Kid was auch au netivo participant. Lincoln, to-day, is quite different from the way it was in the late 'seventies. There. fore, the town was built complete, exactly as it was during the period when "The Kid" was rated "the most dangerous man in the West."- The construction was based on existing sketches and photographs of the New Mexican centre of storm and strife. Particular atten- tion was paid to the building of the adobe McSween home, where Billy and his cohorts were besieged for three days,
Vidor has assembled a chat of exceptional strength for the pro- duction. John Mack Brown won the assignment to play Billy, one of the finest masculine roles in many months. Wallace Beery, fresh froni bin triumphs in The Big House" and "Way for & Sailor," is seen in another memorable char- acterization as Sheriff Pat Garrett, The leading feminine role is played by Kay Johnson and comedy is assured by the presence of Karl Dane.
