No Servants is n comedy and ends in the approved way with the engagement of Victoria, Lady Streetly delightfully acted by Miss Maude White, to the Hon. Francis Mayfield, of the Foreign Office, Mr. R. Woolley, Misses Eileen Bliss, Phyllis Woolley, D. Baldwin and Amelia Landelt gave an excellent sketch of Lady Streetly's maids who are leaving her with the lunch to cook, a salmon with a glassy stare and a duck which she finally puts in the oven, feathers and all. The maids come back in the nick of time, however, and we under sland that Lady Victoria and the Hon. Francis lucht off something

so difficult for the banking fratern ity, and so depressing for their clients, and it could be noted that the laughter and applause were as hearty in the stalls, where sat Sir Charles Addis, Sir Newton Stabb and other high officials of the bank and their ladies, as in the more kumble back rows. "The Unfair

He bas replied inviting the Ger man to visit him at his home in North Wales. He is evidently a good sport," Major Amold said discussing the incident.

Major Arnold believes that he owos his life to the German officer. His recollection of his capture is somewhat confused. It occurred after he had been advancing for. twelve hours in the whippet tank which he commanded. Nine ro- serve cans of petrol outside, had been perforated by 'machine-gun fire, and thene ignited, sending a eascade of flaming liquid over the rear door. The fumes nearly over- powered him and his two com- panions, and when two explosions brought the tank to a standstill, j shey, with their clothing on fire, dashed from the rear door,

The grass at their feet was the ablaze, and they rolled on ground to extinguish their burning clothes. A ring of German infan- try was advancing on them, firing Arnold's companions fell dend. As from the hip.. One of Major

The play is divided into three acte morning, afternoon and even- ing-in the living room of a sau side cottage. The young people, in a perfectly barmless way, get in- volved in what the dreadfully Victorian K.C, uncle of one of the parties calls detestable philander- ing. This, he says, can only lead

around his efforts to get them there and "make them suffer" that the play revolves. Needless to say, all ends well, and the tables are very neatly turned when uncle himself, a bachelor, takes up golf as his his first hobby and a wife as his second..

Of the different variety intertain munta held in Hong Kong during the past season, it is fairly safe to any that the one given last even- ing at the Soldiers and Sailors Home, Wanchai, being up to more than average standard, was probt. the divorce court and it is ably the best, and the organisers of the concort and the artistes are to be congratulated on the splendid success of the evening.

Under the patronage of Commo dore A. H. Walker, O.B.E., and Mra Walker, who, together with Col. Skinner were both present, the proooods of the concert were in aid of the purchasing of furniture for a new lounge in the Home, and it is to bo regrotted therefore that the bad weather, coupled with the fact that other entertainmenta were being hold on the same evening, kept many who would have attend. ed normally, away. It is difficult to differentiate between the artistes as to merit, all of them in their individual tema boing excellent, but certainly a separate word of praise is due here to the organising committed for the apleadid fare they provided. Comedy, olassical songs, both solos and concerted numbers, instrumental music and terpsichore were represented in the programme, and when these differ- ent phases of artistery are render ed by skilled porforandre the sueCTES of a concert is assured, We im- agine that this will be the last entertn.ament of its kind until next year, and it is worth while remark- ing therefore that in our opinion it was an extremely fitting ending to the concert season. Also as effective, in their way. were the other couple involved, Eileen Buchan, na Joan Delisse. and Frank Farrar, as Geoffrey Trevor, the vase smashing husband of Binna. Miss Buchan thoroughly deserved the applause she so fre quently won. Monien Haddock, in the part of Joan's mother, was a dear.
