(DRITISH WIRELESS-ERVICE).
Rudoy, Mar. 19.
LONDON, Mar, 18:
The Prime Minister has invited- More trouble in the coalfields is Mr. Horbort Morrison, the Minis expected to result from a decisionter of Transport, to be a member of the Miners' Delegate Conference of the Cabinet. to-day refusing to ennction the continuanes of the spreadover of hours system beyond the end of March.
The system is one whereby the miners work for a 00 fortnight as bost mits the local conditions, in- stead of a fixed seven and a half hours daily.
Three months ago, despite the ban by the National Miners' Fod eration, South Wales, Scotland and other districts decided in favour of the spreadover bocause they feared a reduction in wages. The reduction was demanded by the employers if the spreadover was not adopted.
The same position will recur unless Government or legiala. tive netion is secured to protect minora wagos. To-day the confor.. ence instructed the Executiva to get into touch with the Government on the matter.
Ceal Strike in France,
DOVAL, Mar. 19.
Mr. Morrison has latterly come into prominence in connexion with the new Road Traffic Act, which has been described as the Govern- ment's greatest domestic triumph. The mobile polion created by the Act are sometimes referred to as "trafic cops," but as this term is not popular at Home the have been given the nickname of "Morrisons." Another big scheme which the Ministry of Transport has in hand is the amalgamation of London's transport systems.
