New policies paid for show an increase of 851,927,652.82, both the ordinary and group departments making substantial gains. Total assurances in force bow an increase of $462,164,542.68. This gain represents a very high rate of persistency, indicating the high value placed by our policyholders on their contracta with the Company in a period of extreme financial pressure.

The number of policies and group aerarance cortificates out -standing passed the million mark during the year,

The total net income shows an increase of $13,201,844.54, The total payments to policyholders and beneficiaries since organization equal the total assurances in force in the Company's fiftieth year (ten years ago),

The mortality among our policyholders has been highly. favourable.

Profits paid to policyholders during the year amounted to 325,641,281.04.

In a year of almost unprecedented business, depression the outstanding quality, of the investments has been strikingly.. shown. Even on the basis of the low prices at the close of the year our sommon stock holdingi show'a substantial excess of market value over cost.

Profits to policy holders entitled to participate during the ensu ing year will be again allotted on the scale at present in operation. The special Maturity Dividend is also continued on the basis announced Inat year.
