Thore never was a more froh, freakish, charming, funny, pathoti world than the one Stella Benson creates. It is almost a waste of her cYOR tive powers that she hits had to use them for so long upon a Chinese instead of an English scene, for that makes two strangenessce whero one, for most of us, would do.
The fact that hitherto she has been admired by only, a small pab. le is probably hecnuso, just when we were beginning to lose our Stella Benson strangeness we had tc accustom ourselves to a Chinese strangeness no well.
But what is more delightful than the right kind of strangeness! To wake and throw open the hotel shutters on wistarin flowers end snow mountains and the Lake of Geneva, or the blue of the Mediter ramenn, or the tall brown houses
