That the earnings of the Hong Kong, Cayton and Maczo Steamboat Company did not justify the Directors paying a dividend was announced by Sir Robert Ho Tung at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders of the Company held yesterday.

Sir Robert traced the effect of the dng in exchange on the Company's income, pointing out that all resiipia were in either Hong Kong or Candon currency while payments of practically all kinds had to be on a starting basis.

Speaking in support, of the Chairman, Mr. M. Fœnandez - pointed out the wisdom of the policy of the company in running their own ships instead of farming the Jusiness out to another party. He added that, in his opinion the Company was now on a sound basis,
