To not girls in the right way of becoming good and useful women in whatever sphere of life their future may be is, I think, my ním in the education of girls sent to me here. I feel at times that par- ents do not always realize this and so many people seem to think that examination results are the aim and end all of every school. I would candidly own that that is not mine. Publie examinations have a distinct valug, and I for ose would not be without them, if for no other reason than because they are a means of helping a girl to decide upon a future career. think that those pupils who have distinct ability, and those only, should he went in for the Matri- calation examination and I would limit this oson kuore and would say that only those intending to tako up a University career should be allowed to enter for the Matri- culation. For other pupils the the Senior ahould be looked upon as a good school-teaving certificate, showing that a girl has had a good all round education,, and for this reason I fool that the subjects taken should be numerically grea ter but in alandard of efficiency considerably lower than that re- quired as an entrance to a Uni- versity.

"It would be hypocritical, and dangerous to overstress this. We have indeed the highost authority for believing that the labourer is worthy of his hire and though there

no limit to the self-sacrifice and devotion which some rare souls pay be found ready to give, there is a very distinct limit to what those who profit by their devotion have a right to expect in this direction,

Disruptive Forcea,
