ST. PAUL'S WINS THE
HOSPITAL BALLOT,
GESTETNER DUPLICATOR TO BE INSTALLED TO-DAY.
TUNG WAH HOSPITAL COMES SECOND.
The ballot organized by Mossrs. D. Gostatner (Eastern), Ltd., to, decide which was the most popular hospital in the dolony, has baan won hands down by St. Paul'e, the French Hospital, Cause- way Bay, with 19,351 votos.
The Golden Gesteiner Electrie Duplicator will be presented to St. Paul's to-day. The eagerncas shown by the adherents. of the various hospitals to secure vates, proves beyond doubt that this machine will, in the opinion of the various hospital staffs, be . of very real value. Indeed when one considers the enormous amount of clerical work entailed by the running of a big institu- tiqu of this description it becomes obvious that machine, like the Gestetner, which can print a hundred perfect copies of n document in a couple of minutes is of the very greatent assist- ance. It is, moreover, so simple to operate that anyone can learn to do so in half an hour. Either typescript, handwriting or Chinese ideographs can be reproduced." Hong Kong's most popular: hospital has now obtained one of these machines ns a gift. It. has cost them nothing, except the kindness and skill of their ministrations in the past which have won for them the hearts of so large a proportion of the people of the Colony.

It will be remembered, no doubt, that Messrs. Gestetner (Eastern), Ltd., organised this ballot in honour of their golden anniversary in every place in which they have a brunch. Such nu extraordinarily generous form of propaganda must bring its own reward and the House of Gestetner will be remembered most gratefully by all who have at heart the welfare not only of St. Paul's, but of hospitals in general.

NINTH ROUND,
[BY WELTER."3
The Crichton-Ewin fight, which promised to be one of the best scraps staged here in the middle- weight clars, ended sensationally in the ninth round at the City Hall on Saturday night when Crichton was disqualified for hitting low There was little doubt about the blow especially from where I was sitting na I had an excellent view of the corner of the ring where the incident occurred.
And so Harry Ewin is the middle weight champion of the Orient for only as recently as a fortnight ago, he handed out the sleeping draught to Carlos Logan, champion of the Philippines, and, although he was not fighting Crichton, for the crown of Shanghai, he is, to all interests uncrowned and purposes, middleweight king of the Far East.

Referee Murdoch again warned Crichton for holding in the seventh round-nothing very startling hap pened during this stanza, but in the next round the referee called the men aside and said, "The next time I have to speak to one of you, I'll call the fight off and give the decision to the other mau." was also for holding on the part of both boys. Meanwhile, "spot" lots of both staples and fancies continue to at- tract attention, and sales are re- ported of various small lots of white shirtings in addition to miscellaneous lots of fancies.
In each case it is well to point out that notwithstanding advances in price which dealers have paid (particularly in respect of white shirting sales), rates accepted are appreciably below the equivalent of current Lancashire costs calculat ed at current rate of exchange.
