DUNBAR STABLE'S BRIGHT PROSPECT FOR THE RACES.

WORTHY REPRESENTATIVES IN EVERY CLASS: DERBY PONIES SHOW

·CONVINCING FORM.

..

FALLING STAR AND PETER DAVEY SHOW FLASH OF SPEED.

[RY MORNING DEW."]

The gallops over the week-end show one thing clearly, and that is that the "Dunbar " stable is once again going to work havoc at the Annual Meeting. I know that many will disagree with me, but a close examination of the position will reveal just what a big claim the stable has on all the principal races.

For the Champion, Diana Bay will be a very strong contender For the Derby, Mr. Dunbar has three very worthy representatives. On Saturday, Champagne Bay gave rail fans a glimpse of his true form, and the way, the pony shaped leads one to think that whatever other Fortune Bay, awers may have in their stables, Champagne Bay is going to make them run. another Derby pony, did the mile and a quarter in 2 minutes 42.1 seconds, which I think is the best gallop to date. Sam Houston (Mrs. Dunbar's Derby pony) was sent over slow work, but he finished in 29.2, which certainly enhanced his claim for recognition as one of the best things in training.

In the subscription griffins class, this stable has Choctow II., Bay of Bellingham and Bay of Calamity which are quite good performers. The stable has six suba in all and the three I have mentioned might this season change the stable's proverbial und "jess" in the subs' races. Of the other gallops it is worthy of note that several very fast last quarters were regis- tered both in the griffins and in the subscription griffins class. Falling, Star and Peter Davey both finished in 29 seconds and although it is too early to speak of their chances, I think they ought to be watched wherever they start.

Fritz is still the pick of the Australian bunch, but I feel sure that when the others aro stretched as the races draw nearer, they will show the same convincing speed.

The times clocked on Saturday were as follows:-
