ANNUAL RACE MEETING PROGRAMME.

FIFTY-SEVEN RACES TO BE DECIDED IN FIVE DAYS:

NO OUTSTANDING, CHANGES.

TRAINING NOTES & TIMES NEXT WEEK.

[BY MORNING DEW."]

Below is given the programme of the Annual Race Meeting to be held on February 23 and March 23, 4. add 7. The first Extra Race Messing has been arranged to take place/

on March

14.

For the Annual Race Meeting there are ning races for the first day and twelve races for the subsequent four days, making 67 races in all... The programme includes a race on each day for the nowly imported' Australian ponies. The stakes are generous and as there are a record number of ponies in training for the Anaual Race Meeting, there is every indication that some very big fields "and keen racing should be seen.

From what I can gather at the moment, in spite of the pre- sence of Diana Bay. last season's crackerjack, several stabies are confident of carrying off the Champions. As for the Derby there is no telling how things will turn out, but there is want of keen-" ness, oither among owners, jockeys, or the public. The sub- scription griffins are being put through their paces and are show. ing up very well, and already there is talk of the likely destina tion of the more important races for this class.

I am happy to be able to annpence that next week training times will be published in this paper together with notes and comments after every gallop. Look out for them!

Taking the field against the Services in a charity football match at Sockunpoo on New Year's Day,

the Civilinas emerged victors by the odd goal in claven, the score giving a fair indication of the general run of play.

There were nearly throw thousand spectators, amongst whom were His Excellency the Governor (Sir Wil- liam Feel) and Commodore A. 11. Walker, who kicked-off. The game was under the charge of Mr. Bald win, and during the afternoon the Fife and Drums of the South Wales Bordercre were in attendance.

There was very little to choose betazon the teams, and as both sides adopted the "first-timer" tactics, play was consequently very fast One, very conspicuous feature was the remarkable combination of both sides; this was really excellent, taking into consideration the fact that the sides had not played to gether previously. Some very glar. ing mistakes were made by players of both teams, and these resulted in several goals being scored,
