In reviewing horse racing in Hong Kong during the year 1830, ono cannot help obsérving that
in practically every direction, the past twelve months have been a record.. Both in number and in quality the ponies running this season were far in advance of anything in the past,
No fewer than eight records wore lowered, the table of which will be found below. Sixty-one jockeys rode in Hong Kong during the year. Mr. L. G. Frost, who tops the list of successful jocknya, took the field 103 times. He won 20 races, was second on 17 ocensions and was placed third 0 times. In 47 outings he failed to secure a place. His record is one of which any jockey may well be proud,
Diana Bay, winner of the Derby and Champions won the most stake money during the year. although he only raced twice. Several ponies. come close to him and full details of stakes won during the year are given below....

Some doubt was felt at one time as to whether Diana Bay will ever race again in Hong Kong, as it was feared that the pony would grow during the year. I am happy to be able to state that Diana Bay was officially monsured on Wednesday and was found to be 14 hands- so that she can run again this year. She should once again prove to be one of the best ponies here and will no doubt bring further laurels to the popular Dunbar stable.

The new grandstands proved to be a great success, and there are now far more patrons of racing than a year ago.
