FAIR OPENED BY LADY PEEL.
When Guy Fawkes atterapted to blow up the House of Lords over three centuries ago, little did he guess that his unsuccess. ful attempt would be a source, indirectly, of unceasing fun for youngsters of succeeding generations. The famous anniversary waR the occasion of much fun at the carnival held at the Kowloon Cricket Club, yesterday.
The fete was formally opened by Lady Peel, who arrived at the grounds punctually at a pm. Previous to his asking Lady Peel to open the eninival, the Hon. Mr. E. R. Hallifty, C.M.G., C.B.E., explaing, that the immediato object of the function was to raise funds in connection with the running of the Kowloon branch of the Helena May Institute.
After having formally declared the fair open, Lady Peel inspected a company of the Kowloon Girl Guides. She was later presented with a bouquet by Kittle Misa Gwennyth Lloyd Jones. Lady Peel then visited the side-shows and stalls and wàs much interested in the various attractions.
