The Radio World's Fair held nt New York last month might easily have been called "the robot's con- vention" because five of these mechanical humans were on hand- one "female and four "males."

Many people stepped up to the microphone and whistled, but the robot continued to sit on his chair without budging. Finally a young fellow tried it. "It Happened in Monterrey," was the selection he whistled. The tubes began to light up and Mr. Robot snapped out of his lethargy. NEW IRISH FREE STATE STATION.
The Irish Free State nuthorities. have placed an order with Mare coni's Wireless Telegraph Com pany for the supply of A high- broadcasting transmitter
power which will be erected in a central position in the Irish Free State to serve the whole of the State.
The new transmitter, which will eabody the-latest-improvements of brondensting technique, will have an aerial energy of 60 kilowatts, and will therefore, lo one of the most powerful broadcast transmitters in Europe. It is expected that the new station will be ready to begin operation in the autumn of 1931
