ROBOTS AND RAYS..

MECHANICAL FIGURES MOVED BY ELECTRIC IMPULSES.

The Radio World's Fair held nt New York last month might easily have been called "the robot's con- vention" because five of these mechanical humans were on hand- one "female and four "males."

"Miss Eveready-The Mystery Lady" was by far the most attrac tive, if not the most soientific, of the group.

She stood on a high pedestal and wrote on a large paper 'roller answers to questions asked by the audience. Her artu, was con. trolled by an attendant inside a small booth who received signals from another helper next to the rohot as to what questions were helg asked.

Many people stepped up to the microphone and whistled, but the robot continued to sit on his chair without budging. Finally a young fellow tried it. "It Happened in Monterrey," was the selection he whistled. The tubes began to light up and Mr. Robot snapped out of his lethargy. He stood, bowed, and his phonograph voice said a few pleasant words congratulating the young man.
