BROOKLYN BUILDING UP A LEAD.
New York, Sept. 13-Brooklyn's Dodgers fought their way pack to definite leadership of the National League to-day. Winning, over the Cincinnati Reds, while the Cubs' were losing to the Phillies; they found themselves with a percentage of .377, as compared with the Cubs' .571. Their victory was by 43 and in spite of two errors, with the Dodgers getting a dozen hits to 10 for Cincinnati.

The Yankees, in third place, lost double-header with the Tigers, at Detroit, dropping the initial contest by 11 ta 10 and the second by 9 to 4. The first game was featured by more slugging than the second, the Tigers making 18 bits-although two errors also-while the Yankees made 14. In the second game, the Yankees could make only four hits to the Tigers 11, and they made three errors to one for the Tigers. This pulled the York percentage down to 368, far below the two. leaders.

New York, Sept 14-Brooklyn's newly-regained leadership of the National League was lengthened Dodgers Won to-day when the again from the Cincinnati Reds, while the Cubs, now in second place, did not play. The Dodgers made the same number of hits, 10, as the Reds, but they profited by two Cincinnati errors and won by 8 to 3, increasing their percentage to .580; while the Cubs remains at 871.

They got 13 hits to the Giants'. 11, and the home team made two errors. The second game had to be called Eter seven innings, with the score 7 to 3 for Pittsburg, because of darkness.

CHINESE ATHLETIC TO PLAY SOMERSETS.
There will be two soccer matches at The Stadium, North Point, this second afternoon, the first and teams of the. Chinese Athletic Asso- ciation taking on the Somersets and Royal Navy respectively.
The programme will open with the junior game which is due to start at 3.30 p.m.; while this should quite a good inatch, the prove senior one will be the one looked forward to by the hundreds of sup. porters of the home Club.
The Chinese play extremely clever football and they can always be relied upon to give a good ex- hibition, whatever the opposition: mas be like. This game will com- mence at 4.45 p.m.
