Alias Shearer takes the part of Jerry, a physician's daughter and sbo marries a newspaper man, "with very defnite ideas.” Married life goes on well till the first an-. [niversary of the wedding comės - round when Jerry Ands that her husband is not too faithful. She decides, then, that she too, must "play the game the man's way."
Meanwhile, Jerry meets her old sweetheart, Paul (Conrard Nagel) who tells her of his own unhappy marriage. She promises to marry him after he gets his divorce only to find that his invalid wife needs him very badly. Jerry sends Paul back to his wife and then she learns that her former husband is leading a rictous life, abroad. "All of her old affection for him comes back, She may not need Ted but Ted needs her whether he will have her or not. She goes to him in Paris and meets him at a New Year func- tion. There is a dramatic scene in which he realizes his respon- sibility for her straying frem con- ventional propriety. Both have pro-erred and regented-but hot too
late for they are to try again.

As the first operetta in sound and colour, Rio Rita' opens up new vista of entertainment to these geographically barred from Broad- way spectacles,
Yet it is questionable waether Ziegfeld himself ever so "glorified" a show as Radio Picturca has "Rio Rita Cortainly the wider limita tions of the camera have given to the gay vormance of the Rio Grande more movement and action than could ever have been accomplished on the stage.
Interesting as is the story, lavish as are the sets and costumes, it is the singing and acting of the large cast of principals that liftRio Rita" to the peak in audience ap pen!.
