Paragraph No. 1811 of the Tariff Act of 1930 provides for free entry of works of art, except rugs and carpets made after the year 1700, collections in illustration of the arts, works in 'progress of the bronze, marble, terra cotta, pariac. pottery, or porcelain, artistic anti- quities, and objects of art of orna- mental character or educational value which shall have been pro duced prior to the year 1300 subject to such regulations as to proof of antiquity as the Secretary of the Treasury may prescribe. The Act also provides that if any such arti cle, when imported for purposes of sale, is rejected as unauthentic in respect to the antiquity claimed as a basis of free entry, a duty of 95 per cent of the valus of such article will be payable in addition to other duty imposed by law upon sach article.
