(Sd) N. L. SMITH, p. Colonial Secretary. Hon. Mr. Braga asked if he could address the meeting on the subject, to which the Chairman replied that it was not desirable Hon. Mr. Braga mentioned that, according to routine, the letter had been cir- culated from member to member and he could not see why members of the Board were precluded from Expressing their views on such an important matter. He failed to see why the appointment of the Director of Medica) and Sanitary Services as a member of the Board should be such a temporary one. No Board would object to the re- storation of the Medical Oficer as a member, but surely there must be

reason for deleting the D.M.M.S. The Chairman read the letter in question and referred to that passage which explained that al- though the D.M.M.S. would no longer be a member of the Board, he would in future, by reason of the experience which he had gained as a past member of the Board, be in a position to consider and put forward recommendations.

Aerated Water Factory. They later returned to Lane Crawford's for 'a second time. This was at 4.5 p.m. and replied: "Take a good look at it. You will remember me again. I am Aze. That was quite un necessary. He then walked off."

Hoard An Altercation,

In answer to the Bench, Miss Matheson said that she did not notice the Sergeant at 3.5 p.m., and added that had he been there she would have seen him. When the car was outside Lane Crawford's for a second time, Mrs. Matheson got out but the driver remained at his seat while witness was at the back of the car. Hearing an al- tercation she noticed the presence of the Sergeant who was talking to the driver. The latter had by then got out and was walking on the pa ement.

In a truculent way, I heard the Sergeant demanding the licence.. I promptly asked my driver: What have you been doing? Is it a traffic offence?' He turned round and said he did not knów why the Sergeant wanted his licence.

Distinct Contradiction. After that, said Miss Matheson, they drove of to Chater Road, where witness remained in the car and the driver went off to tell Mrs. Matheson what had taken place and where the car was.

The Magistrate: According to the Sergeant he saw you again that third time at 4.251
