LYONS SILK. MARKET.
Lyons, September 8.-The silk market is quiet. In spite of the worldwide break in values of raw silk, manufactures have succeeded in improving their position during Stocks of the last 18 months. manufactured silk have decreased, which is a factor in stopping the decline in the price of the raw material, and with the aid of artificial silk manufacturers have succeeded in maintaining a fair amount of activity in their fac Lories.
On the other hand, ribbons, up to the present moment have been neglected, seem. to be coming back. into fashion, and there is a better. feeling in the mills of Bt. Etienne.
The United States Standard Ship ping Co. which belongs to the Standard Oil has ordered six Diesel motor-tankers of 18,200 tons esch from the three German dock yards) Deutsche Werlt, Hamburg, Vulkan, Bremen, and Germania Werft, Kiel The six tankers will cost about Mks. 30,000,000. Only last year the same company ordered from Ger man dockyards three tankers of the ame size which were delivered: some time ago and apparently proved very satisfactory.
