The amount spent on tobacco, cigars, and cigarette, by the in- habitants of Paris last year was, in round figures, £7,235,000 and in the Department of the Seine the consumption of cigarette, was 021 per head of the population, 92 more than in 1923, an average of 18 a week. This is a very high one, considering that the popula tion includes a large number of 42,133 839,687 small children and other
smokers. The average expenditure the department on cigarette, in was Fra. 132.48 (about £1 is. 5d.) per head of the population.
