Beautiful girls in lavish costumes, all in colour by the Technicolour process, appear in the spectacular revue scenes. Contrast is supplied by the backstage scenes of the cheap burlesque theatre, with its beef-trust" chorus of women, none of whom weighs less than 160 pounds.
In this elaborate setting, the romance of Skid and Bonny is acted. Ht Skelly, who played the part of Skid during the successful run of Burlesque," which totalled nearly two years, immortalizes the rule on the screen. Nancy Carroll,.} charming Paramount featured play- | er, recently seen in "Illusión" and Abie's Irish Rose," sings, dances and makes love as Bonny.
"The Secret Hour."
The paychology of love has been so cleverly worked out in "The Secret Hour" that it becomea" an unusual picture. The love psycho- logy itself is comparatively simple, but it is handled in a human, under- 'standing way by Pola Negri, the star and Jean Hersholt and Ken- neth Thomson, the masculine leads.
In certain respects the treatment is a little daring, yet the story is one of tremendous heart appeal

Miss Negri portrays a girl who takes a long chance in the lottery: of love. With her it is anything to escape from a life of drudgery. Hersholt is a middle-aged man who wants a young wife as a mother for his children. Kenneth Thomson is. a rural gallant imperious in his love affairs with girls.
The manner in which the girl in- Wimbledon High School for Girls stinctively gives herself to Thom- was held to be a public schoolson, their midnight marriage, and in a House of Lords judgment last the fear that Herabolt will discover month.
