Before the introduction of a new Willys-Overland engineering staff model, tests are conducted by the covering many thousands of miles. Every test, is checked and a careful performance record kept. Engines are subjected to block tests for many hours, then dismantled 'nud each part carefully inspected by the experts.
This means that when the engine is finally declared perfect for pro duction, every detail has been thoroughly tested under every con dition in order to place in the hands of the buyer a perfected car that has been ander the watchful eyes
af engineering experts for many weeks.
An example of some of the strenuous tests Willys-Overland products are subjected to; is found in the test and experimental work that preceded the introduction of the new Willys Eight. The rugged mountains of Pennsylvania, Kep tucky, Georgia and Tennessee wera used to test its mountain climbing ability as well as its high speed work over steep grades. Its per- formance at varigas altitudes and under different climatic conditions was carefully checked. Still a great in. trafic were made oo heavily portion of the tests for its activity travelled city streets. These later tests brought out the advantage of its splendid second gear perform- ance of 48 miles an hour enabling it to make a fast getaway at traße lighta.
