CHAMPIONSHIP AND RINK RECORDS.

[BY BACK WOOD."]

Senior division teams in the lawn bowls leagüe completed their programme on Saturday, the championship going to Craigengawer with Civil Service as the runners-up. It was Craigengower's third consecutive victory and this, together with other records, prove conclusively that they are the first team in the league this year. They are 252 shots up this year, which is four times that of their nearest rivals, while Bradbury's rink claim nearly half this total and have benton last season's record of 116 shots. Last year Kowloon Dock handed the list with 132 shots, Craigengower com- ing next with 110 shots and retaining the championship on the replay.

The following are the records of the two Clubs and the rinka which hold a high position in the two divisions:-

[BY BROADCASTER".}"

The second half of the racing season. will commence this month and already, the ponies in Hong Kong are being put through their

paces,

One or two animals are showing very much improved form over the first half of the year, and there will certainly be a good pro- portion of upsets on September 27, Some very fine animals will be racing after the summer interval and racing fans will be pleased to hear that practically the whole of the cross-breds in Shanghai will be down here by the next Annual Hecting. One animal, Pride of Tsingtao is already down here and there is already talk of more broken records before the Annual Meeting.

The Fanling Races will be resum- ed about a month later than those at Happy Valley, and I understand that there will be flat racing in Kwanti this year in addition to steeplechasing. The flat races will be over long distances, and I. be- lieve the best ponies on the flat will be barred by the conditions. This makes things all the more inter- esting.. By the way, all the Fan. ling Race Club's events will in future be recognised by the Jockey Club in Hong Kong and the three rico clubs in Shanghai as official races, unless the conditions of the race expressly state otherwise.

The finishing touches are being

put to the widening of the straight at Happy Valley The turf, inspite
