The tailored summer dress is the one mest women find real joy in. wearing, and into this category Smart, comes the tennis dress. trim and workmanlike, it does not vary, remarkably from one year to another.
This season's model shows a longer skirt and deeper hip band or yolk. This is partly due to the lugher waistline. The yoke fits closely and in many instances pleats are stitched down several inches. In some models pleats and the circular movement are combined to give the necessary fullness to the skirt. The bodice or blouse is simple and without sleeves for tennis wear: fairly low necks appear at the back. A decided "V"open- ing may be held together with a strap, or the material may be cut in a fancy design.
Coloured stitching on white or pastel shades is popular on the. frock this season. Blue or red is often seen on the white and pastel- blue may be stitched with a deeper tone of blue.

Two distinct styles appear in the summer fashions: there is the flut- taring type of gown in chiffons, "tailored i lace, etc., and the variety in more substantial material such as crêpe de chine; the leaning towards the latter style does not diminish. Fashionable motifs ap- pear in both. There are fluttering capes and smart little pelerines, whichever one fencies. In the case. of the former, those made of flowered chiffon or lace stand out; in some cases excessive fluttering is curtained by an edging of fur some inches wide, but where the summer weather is not too certain, a smart silk gown and, coat are always right.
The normal waistline appears in most models, though the fullness in the skirt starts from below the hip- line.. In the case of the chiffon gown the fulness appears in many flounces and hanging pieces, while the bodice is kept as slim as pos- sible. It is only in the coat or cape that fullness appears.
