BY His Excellency WILLIAM JERVOIS, Knight of the Royal Hanoverian Guelphic Order, Major General Commanding Her Ma- jesty's Forces in China, Acting Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, with the Advice of the Legislative Council of Hongkong. AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE ISSUE OF THE WRIT OF CAPIAS AD RESPONDENDUM DURING THE ILLNESS OR TEMPORARY ABSENCE OF THE CHIEF JUSTICE OR ACTING CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE SAID COLONY.
[Dated, 11th August, 1852.]
I. Whereas it is expedient to make provisions for the issue of such Writs in pursuance of the 24th Section of the Colonial Ordinance No. 6 of 1845, during the Illness or temporary Absence of the Chief Justice or Acting Chief Justice of the said Colony.
II. Be it therefore ordained by His Excellency The Acting Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, That in Case of the Illness or temporary Absence of the Person filling for the Time being the Office of the Chief Justice of this Colony, it shall be lawful for such Person to depute in Writing the Registrar or Acting Registrar of the said Supreme Court to issue, if Occasion require, any such Writs of Capias ad Respondendum in Pursuance of the 24tlı Section of Ordinance No. 6 of 1845, during such Illness or temporary Absence.
