New York, July 8-The market advanerd in a steady crescendo to-day, according to the daily re view of the Dow Jones Financial News Agency, until the Gnal minutes of the session. Then profit. taking again began and reduced the considerable advanc's which had been gaining momentum right up
to that time.
The net result of this steady rise and brief final drop was again. Industrils, rails, and utilities were all up at the close, industrials by 2.92 and rails by 2.96. Utilities followed with a gain of 1.13. The "total business done was 1,296,700

The sumption of foreign-made cigaret- tes. they say, by Chinese is un- patriotic and unprincipled as it leads to millions of dollars going inth the pockets of foreigners which should rightfully go to the Chinese merchants. As a result, the Chinese cigarette "industry is falling to pieces.

Union Pacife gained one-eighth to 303, while Northern Pacife held firm at 73. Canadian Padife took a drop of 2 points to 196.
Columbia Gas and Electric was up 17 to 61 but Consolidated Ga of New York fell 21 to 103. General Electric gained 34- eighths to close at 383. Standard Oil of New Jersey was up & half. palat to ce, but Standard Oil of New York dropped one-eighth to 3. Westinghouse gained 1 to 137.

Kuomintang's Examplo. The Chamber therefore urges all Chinese to oke only Chingar made cigarettes and suggests that the members of the Kuomintang should set an example in this re spect. They further
recommend
that members of governmental or ganizations should stop buying and Soking foreign-made cigarettes: that cigarette shops should sell only Chinese eignettes in prefer ence to foreign cigarettes, and that Chinese newspapers should re frain from publishing advertise- ments relating to foreign cigarettes.
The order says that this cam- Paign is part of the National Gov. ernment's programme for the deve lopment of domestic industries.
